Increase Awareness of Infectious Diseases Caused by Floods and Climate Change: Inhu Health Department’s Warning

HALUANRIAU.CO, INDRAGIRI HULU – The Indragiri Hulu Regency Health Service (Diskes) reminded the public to increase their awareness of infectious diseases caused by floods and climate change which could cause extraordinary events.

This appeal was conveyed by the Head of the Inhu Health Department, Elis Julinarti DCN, M.Kes in response to the increasing rainfall in Inhu Regency which has occurred in recent days.

“The current increase in rainfall means that people need to be alert to infectious diseases such as dengue fever, diarrhea, acute respiratory infections and skin diseases and others,” he said.

Elis explained that in order to anticipate this infectious disease, the community was asked to strengthen the one house one jumantik movement, in realizing the role of family members as larva monitors (Jumantik) at home.

Increasing community mobilization efforts in eradicating mosquito nests (PSN) by carrying out 3M plus activities through Draining, Covering and Utilizing, Recycling used goods, plus preventing mosquito bites by using anti-mosquito liquid/spray, eradicating mosquito larvae with larvicide in puddles and planting mosquito repellent plant.

The Inhu Health Department also provides information and education to the public regarding the prevention, control and management of diseases caused by floods and climate change, maintaining cleanliness and the surrounding environment so that the prevention and management of diseases due to the impacts of floods and climate change can be overcome.

“Diskes Inhu also ensures the availability of medicines and logistics, in managing the handling of infectious diseases affected by flooding and climate change at the Community Health Center level. All these activities are carried out while maintaining health protocols, in addition to increasing monitoring and anticipation of post-impact infectious disease infection services. “floods and climate change. So people can immediately go to the nearest health service center if they experience signs and symptoms of illness,” he explained.
