Income gaps still wide between East and West

Recent tax data shows that there are still very large economic differences between various parts of the city. A few hundred meters can be decisive.

Groruddalen clearly stands out as an area with lower incomes than the western parts of Oslo. Stovner is at the bottom.

There is no doubt that Oslo is a divided city. The differences between what people earn and how much wealth they have are large. These differences mainly move along one axis: East and West.

The tribute lists for 2021 were released on Wednesday. The numbers underscore this once again. An example: where the average wealth in Bygdøy is NOK 690,000, in Furuset it is NOK 0.
