In the making since 2018, the Autre Soie district in Villeurbanne is welcoming its first residents or users this fall.
It is a new district that is being built in Villeurbanne. You know the Silk scarfits offices, its shopping centre, its housing…?
Here is the Other Silk. A urban project and solidarity supported by the Economic Interest Grouping (GIE) The City Differentlymade up of five housing and accommodation players.
Among which East Metropolis Habitatbut also Rhone Saone Housing, Aralis Foundation, Alynea and the Villeurbannaise Town Planning Company SVU (historic manager of Skyscrapers).
The project includes different types of social housing, a restaurant, businesses and a public park.
Rayonne – Lyon Tomorrow
Without forgetting the centerpiece of the grouping, a performance hall: Rayonwhich is scheduled to open on October 13.
The project also revolves around a listed historic building.

“The temporary occupation that began in 2016 allowed the project to emerge. We wanted to build around the existing building, keeping a building that will be 100 years old. It’s quite rare that we, as social landlords, integrate a cultural actor so much into a project (the CCO)”.
The urban project of l’Autre Soie provides for a total of 272 housing units. The area is bordered by a vast green space.

Which will be the first self-managed public park in Villeurbanne. Residents who so wish can decide how it operates.
We will have understood it… A respect for history but also a very innovative side with, for example, the use of geothermal energy to provide fresh air or supply hot water to neighboring residences…
