Including dairy … foods that stimulate arthritis

There are many foods that increase the risk of developing arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, and psoriatic arthritis, which may occur as a result of some wrong practices.

Here is a list of foods that increase the risk of arthritis:

1- Omega-6 fatty acids

Foods rich in omega-6 fatty acids – such as corn oil, peanuts, sunflower seeds, and soy oil – are healthy foods that you should eat in small amounts.

2- Refined carbohydrates

White flour products – such as white bread, pasta and crackers – are ranked from the list of foods high in refined carbohydrates, also called refined grains.

These foods cause a spike in blood glucose, which increases the risk of infections in the body, including arthritis.

3- Dairy products

The type of protein found in dairy products may cause allergic reactions in some people, and arthritis pain, as a result of irritation of the tissues around the joints.

You can get protein from vegetables – such as spinach, nuts, tofu cheese, beans and lentils – instead of those found in meat and dairy products.

4- Red meat

Meat – especially red meat – is one of the foods rich in saturated fats, which may cause high cholesterol and inflammation in the body.

Meat also contains high levels of the end products of the advanced sugar-protein binding process (AGEs), which stimulate the growth of inflammation in the body, especially when grilled, roasted, or fried.

5- Processed foods

Avoid processed foods – such as baked goods, ready meals, and preserves – that contain trans fats or partially hydrogenated oils, which will keep them longer and trans fats worse in arthritis.

6- Salt and preservatives

Many foods contain a lot of salt, and preservatives, which help in storing food for a longer period of time, excess salt consumption may lead to an increased risk of arthritis and blood pressure problems.

7- Alcohol and tobacco

Tobacco and alcohol use can cause a number of health problems, including arthritis. Smoking increases the risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis, and alcohol increases the risk of developing gout.
