Coach Fernando Diniz called five professionals to work with the Brazilian team for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
What happened
Diniz will have assistants Eduardo Barros and Wagner Bertelli, in addition to physical trainer Marcos Seixas, all from Fluminense, where the coach also works.
Eduardo and Wagner should be part of Diniz’s fixed commission in the Brazilian team. Marcos, at first, was called up for the matches against Bolivia and Peru.
Fernando Diniz also invited assistant Dado Cavalcanti, a coach who is without a club, and goalkeeper coach Marcelo Carpes, from Corinthians.
Who are they?
Eduardo Barros was Fernando Diniz’s assistant at Audax, club that projected the coach in Brazilian football. Barros continued with Diniz in Oeste, at Athletico and re-edited the duo at Fluminense. A former player, he is a consultant for the University of Football.
Wagner Bertelli has been with Diniz forever. A physical trainer, Bertelli is also an assistant coach. Fernando Diniz used to say that Wagner Bertelli is his “right and left arm” and that he manages to communicate with his friend through his eyes.
Marcos Seixas is a physical trainer on Fluminense’s permanent coaching staff and was called up by Diniz for those first games for the national team. Seixas has already been to Brazil in the campaigns of the second Olympic championship, in 2016 and 2021, and had also been invited by interim Ramon Menezes.
Dado Cavalcanti was at América-RN in the relegation campaign for Série D of the Brazilian Championship, but Fernando Diniz is an enthusiast of his work and got to know him better during CBF courses. Dado started his career in 2008 and has worked for more than 20 teams.
Marcelo Carpes has been Corinthains’ goalkeeper coach since 2020. He also worked at Internacional, Juventude, Caxias, Chapecoense and Luverdense. The last job before Timão was in Querétaro, Mexico.
