INCLUDE BIG METEOR RAIN, FOLLOWS THE SKY PHENOMENON OF JANUARY 2022

At the beginning of 2022, there were many interesting celestial phenomena that were interesting to watch, especially throughout the month of January 2022. Starting from the Quadrantid meteor shower phenomenon to the close proximity of two asteroids to Earth, celestial events have adorned the early this year.

As a review, the following Bloranews summarizes the celestial phenomena that occurred throughout the month of January 2022.

1. Quadrantid Meteor Shower Phenomenon

On January 2-3, 2022 there has been a meteor shower in the northern hemisphere. This celestial phenomenon is known as the peak of the Quadrantid meteor shower.

The phenomenon of the Quadrantid meteor shower is a meteor shower that is famous for its high intensity because it can reach 100 meteors per hour or more. And according to scientists, the Quadrantid meteor shower this time has an intensity of 110 meteors per hour.

2. Nearest Sun Phenomenon to Earth

Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 13:55 WIB there has been a celestial phenomenon in the form of the sun closest to Earth. The proximity of the Sun to Earth is known to be around 147.1 million kilometers.

The Sun is closest to the Earth because the Earth occupies the perihelion point of its orbit on its journey around the Sun. Earth occupies its perihelion point every early January and for the year 2022 it coincides with January 4.

3. Asteroid 2013 YD48 Phenomenon Passes Near Earth

On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, Asteroid 2013 YD48 passed near Earth at a distance of 14.6 times the average Earth-Moon distance or the equivalent of 5.6 million km.

Asteroid 2013 YD48 itself was discovered in 2013, has a diameter of 107 m and belongs to the Apollo class near-Earth asteroid, so it has an orbit that can intersect with Earth’s orbit.

4. The phenomenon of Asteroid 7482 (1999 PC1) passing near Earth

Last Tuesday, January 18, 2022, another asteroid crossed the Earth, namely Asteroid 7482 (1999 PC1). The asteroid passed near Earth at a distance of 5.2 times the average Earth-Moon distance, or the equivalent of 2 million km.

Asteroid 7482 (1999 PC1) was discovered in 1999. This near-Earth asteroid has a diameter of 1,732 m and is classified as a near-Earth asteroid of the Apollo class, so it has an orbit that can intersect with Earth’s orbit.

5. Phenomenon of the Moon-Venus-Mars . Conjunction

Finally, the Triple conjunction phenomenon between the Moon, Venus and Mars will also occur this January. This phenomenon is an event as if the Moon together with the planets Venus and Mars are in the same location when viewed from Earth.

Both will appear in a narrow field at the end of this month, namely on January 30, 2022.
