“Journalists have become a target for incitement, which has put them in obvious and current danger,” write a dozen Israeli media outlets in a letter to social media giants.
“Countless messages on Facebook and tweets on Twitter call for the physical harm of Israeli journalists, or label them traitors, or enemies of the state, which encourages or justifies violent actions against them. ”
“Facebook and Twitter have a public responsibility to monitor and immediately remove any post from their platforms that encourages physical harm to journalists. They are responsible for preventing incendiary material and incentives from being disseminated under the auspices of their platforms. ”

“If, or worse, when personal injury or loss of life occurs in connection with this incitement, Facebook and Twitter should know that by not taking action, and by not taking a stand against the incitement, they are allowing or even encourage such violent acts, ”the letter said.
