According to specialists, the fact that Mexico is the country with the highest incidence of childhood obesity, has conditioned the health of many young people, which together with sedentary lifestyle and excess calorie consumption, results in people under 40 years of age presenting greater risk of having diabetes, which a few decades ago was only observed after 50 years.
The Social Security Institute of the State of Mexico and Municipalities (ISSEMyM) points out that, on the other hand, some years ago juvenile diabetes was due to genetic factors and was not considered a comorbidity of obesity; however, it has now been shown that excess adipose tissue is intrinsically related to diabetes mellitus.
Likewise, he warned that presenting obesity conditions other chronic diseases such as hypertension, breast, colon, prostate, ovary, endometrial cancer and damage to the bone system in the knees and vertebrae, mainly.
In general, people with weight problems suffer changes in their metabolism causing sleep apnea, low self-esteem, infertility and in very severe cases, not being able to exercise to burn excess calories, they have to resort to high-grade surgical treatments such as it is gastric bypass.
For this reason, to reduce the risk of diabetes or obesity, it is recommended to limit the consumption of foods that are rich in sugars, fats and processed, eat fruits and vegetables continuously during the day, exercise frequently and reduce the consumption of alcohol and tobacco.
