Wednesday, July 7th: NRW loosens measures for incidence below ten

In North Rhine-Westphalia, the corona restrictions in districts and urban districts with a stable seven-day incidence below ten will be significantly relaxed. The state government leads one new “incidence level zero” in the new Corona Protection Ordinance one, said Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU) on Wednesday in Düsseldorf. The regulation applies from Friday.

In many areas, masks and keeping your distance are then just a recommendation. The mask requirement remains in some areas such as in buses and trains, retail, medical practices, taxis and school transport, so Laumann. Employees with close customer contact such as body-hugging services or service staff in the catering industry would still have to wear a mask or have a negative test certificate.

At larger private events, minimum distances and mask requirements can be waived, even if the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days is less than ten across the country and the participants have tested negative.

Folk festivals, town, village and rifle festivals are again allowed from Friday if the national incidence and also the incidence in the respective municipality is below ten. The participants must have a negative test certificate with them. Organizers should make random checks.

In Cologne, the incidence was slightly over ten on Wednesday – so the previous restrictions will remain here for the time being.

Cologne vaccination doctor wants to be fined for truants

In June alone, 50,000 people canceled their vaccination appointments in the vaccination centers in the area of the North Rhine Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians. In Cologne, around two to five percent of appointments are missed every day. In the doctor’s offices it looks similar: “This is appointment terror, what we are experiencing,” said the Cologne vaccination doctor in charge Jürgen Zastrow the “Express”.

So far, he has carried out 4,000 vaccinations in his ENT practice, but many of their appointments no longer fit the bill. Then there are requests for postponement, refusals – and also people who simply do not come. Each of the cases means an effort for the staff in the practice, but Zastrow considers skipping appointments to be the worst – which is why he is also a fine to show patients that it is not possible. That shouldn’t be a punishment. “We just want to make it clear to people that they cause an unbelievable amount of work on the other side,” continued Zastrow.
