The numbers were impressive: For weeks, the Hamburg social welfare authority had reported how high the corona incidence among vaccinated people and how high it is among unvaccinated people. Accordingly, it was many times higher among the unvaccinated. But now there are doubts.
During a research, journalists from “Welt” and “Süddeutscher Zeitung” tried to find out how many corona cases the vaccination status is known for. Her suspicions were: The cases where the authorities do not know the status are listed as unvaccinated. This suspicion was borne out, and it turned out that in most cases the Hamburg social welfare authorities actually do not know whether someone is vaccinated or unvaccinated. NDR 90.3 is the Senate response to a small request from FDP MP Anna von Treuenfels. Accordingly, at the end of November, in the 47th calendar week, in almost 70 percent of the corona cases it was not clear whether the infected person was vaccinated or unvaccinated. Nevertheless, they were counted in the group of the unvaccinated.

Is the reason why the health authorities are overloaded?
Now the question arises, why the social authority publishes these figures anyway. One thing is clear: it is the job of the health authorities to query and check the vaccination status. The health authorities may not be able to keep up at the moment due to overload.
There are also gaps in the numbers of hospitals
Even in the case of the hospitals, the information is incomplete. The vaccination status cannot be given for at least one third of all hospital patients and patients, this is also evident from the Senate response to a request from Left MP Deniz Celik. This fact is dramatic because, according to the Senate, the hospitals have already been obliged to collect and report the figures since mid-July. So there are still a lot of unanswered questions. The social authority could not yet be reached for NDR 90.3.
