Frankfurt – The Robert Koch Institute has published the current number of corona cases* for the state of Hesse*. According to this, 20,181 new infections were reported on Thursday (03/24/2022). Since the beginning of the corona pandemic, the health authorities in Hesse have recorded a total of 1,333,336 people with a Sars-CoV-2 infection.
The country’s seven-day incidence continued to rise from the previous day and now stands at 1455.8 (previous day: 1404.8). The RKI in Hesse reported 12 new deaths (9,529 in total).

The case numbers of the RKI may differ from those of the individual federal states. One reason for this is the longer transmission paths between the RKI and the responsible health authorities. The RKI’s Covid-19 dashboard can also be adjusted during the day. The RKI also warns: It could be that the decline in incidence does not reflect the actual infection process, but is the result of an overloaded reporting and testing system. In addition, it could play a role that some people do not have their positive self-test or rapid test clarified with a PCR test. They will then not appear in the statistics.
Hesse has also received new corona rules, and further easing is planned.* At a federal-state summit on Wednesday (February 16, 2022), the heads of the federal states and the federal government around Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) agreed on gradual, extensive easing of the previous ones protective measures.
