Corona incidences at a high level: This is particularly noticeable in schools. More than two percent of all teachers in BW are currently in isolation.
According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the highest corona incidence value since the beginning of the pandemic two years ago was recorded on Thursday. Nevertheless, according to its current situation report, the State Health Office (LGA) assumes that the peak of the fifth wave in Baden-Württemberg has “probably been exceeded”. Since the end of February, the number of new infections reported has remained “relatively stable at a very high level, with a slight increase in the last few days”. The omicron variant is currently the dominant virus variant.
Since the beginning of the corona pandemic (as of Thursday, March 10th, 4 p.m.) there have been almost 2.4 million confirmed cases from all 44 urban and rural districts in the state. Underneath there was over 14,500 proven deaths.
the district with the highest incidence in Baden-Württemberg and also throughout Germany is currently the Black Forest-Baar district (3,148.4). That’s the highest seven-day incidence nationwide. the Stadtkreis with the highest incidence in Baden-Württemberg Mannheim (2.020,9).
The number of reported new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week climbed from Wednesday to Thursday from 1551.8 1646,5, as announced by the LGA in Stuttgart. Within a week, the value rose by a little more than 300.
In the past seven days, the incidence in Baden-Württemberg has skyrocketed every day. Children and young people made up the highest proportion of those infected – almost a quarter (24 percent). The age group over 60 represents 12 percent of the reported infections. Since the beginning of the year, 1,020 corona outbreaks in schools with a total of 5,260 infections and 566 corona outbreaks in day-care centers with a total of 3,987 infections have been reported.

The corona incidence figures are increasing and Health Minister Karl Lauterbach warns of a summer wave. But actually one had hoped that the summer would be more relaxed.

There are currently no school closures due to corona outbreaks among around 4,500 schools in the country. However, at 25 of a total of 2,100 affected schools, a total of 58 classes have been temporarily removed from attendance due to cases or suspected infection with the coronavirus. In the other affected schools, only individual students or teachers are infected, in quarantine or isolation. In relation: In Baden-Württemberg there are a total of around 67,500 classes.
The schools have reported 2,824 teachers infected with Covid-19 – that is 2.05 percent of all teachers in Baden-Württemberg. 673 teachers are in quarantine, which corresponds to 0.49 percent of all teachers in Baden-Württemberg. In addition, 15,878 were infected with Covid-19 Pupils reported what a Share of 1.08 percent is equivalent to. 8,503 schoolchildren are in quarantine, which corresponds to 0.58 percent of all schoolchildren in Baden-Württemberg.

School-age children and adolescents continue to account for a large part of the corona infections in the country. The age group from 0 to 14 years deserves special mention.
The hospitalization incidence, which indicates all reported cases in the last seven days per 100,000 inhabitants, is 6.9. The state health department received 726,961 corona cases within the past 28 days, of which 4,604 cases were hospitalized.
In the past 28 days, 130 people with full vaccination protection, 2,030 people without (full) vaccination protection and 2,444 people with unknown vaccination status have been treated in hospital because of the coronavirus. There were only nine people in the intensive care units who were fully vaccinated. 184 of the intensive care patients were not (completely) vaccinated and the vaccination status of 147 people in the intensive care unit was unknown.

According to the management report, 8,203,978 people have now been vaccinated against Corona at least twice. These are 73.9 percent of the total population in Baden-Wurttemberg. A third so-called Boosterimpfung have received (as of March 10) 6,247,684 people. These are 56.3 percent of the people in the country.
The RKI classifies the risk to the health of the population from the corona virus in Germany as very high. This is especially true for unvaccinated people. People who have recovered and are double-vaccinated are said to be at high risk. The RKI estimates the risk for those who have been vaccinated three times as moderate.
