(Incheon = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Sang-yeon = The so-called ‘90,000 won eating and running’ controversy at a raw fish restaurant in Incheon turned out to be a mistake on the part of the store due to an employee’s mistake in calculation.
According to the store on the 27th, two people, including Mr. A, visited a raw fish restaurant in Seo-gu, Incheon on the 24th at 7:00 pm and ate at an outdoor table for about 3 hours.
They handed over their card to pay for food worth 90,000 won 20 minutes before leaving the store, but the store employee misunderstood the table and calculated the cost of another customer’s meal.
As a result, the payment terminal displayed the food price of Mr. A and his party as not being calculated, and Mr. B, the owner of the company, misunderstood that the customers had run away and reported it to the police the next day.
In a phone call with Yonhap News that day, Mr. B said, “I only watched 5-10 minutes of closed-circuit (CC) TV footage and misunderstood that Mr. A and others went without paying.” said.
Previously, Mr. B reported Mr. A’s group to the police and also released CCTV footage of them appearing in the online community, but now he deleted the post and posted an apology.
He said, “I didn’t know it would spread like this because I wrote this post in a mentally difficult state after going through a series of eating and running incidents,” and “I sincerely apologize to the victims.”
The police plan to investigate the incident and close the case with no charges if it is confirmed that Mr. A and others paid for the food normally.
