The president of the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (Incaa), Nicholas Batlleand the Minister of Women, Gender Policies and Sexual Diversity of the province of Buenos Aires, Estela Diazsigned a framework agreement to develop joint projects and promote film productions with a gender perspective.
The agreement was signed within the framework of the screening at the Gaumont Cinema in Buenos Aires, 49 years after its original premiere, of the restored film “People in Buenos Aires”directed by the Argentine filmmaker Eva Landeck. The short film “Mar para Todas”, produced by the Provincial Ministry, could also be seen on the occasion.
“In any of the aspects of life, women are half of society, but we have always had difficulties and inequalities in access to rights. Recognizing those who directed, those who were pioneers in cinema, is essential to encourage many more directors. There must be more and more women as protagonists. That is why we will continue betting on the creation of culture with integration and equality”Diaz noted.
As reported, the projection of “People in Buenos Aires” (1974) was made in 35 mm thanks to the preservation work carried out by the Incaa National Cinematheque and the effort being made by the program ‘Gafas Violetas’, of the Incaa Federal Development Sub-Management in disseminating the work of this filmmaker.
Batlle pointed out that the Institute works “in pursuit of an increasingly egalitarian audiovisual culture” and highlighted the contribution of the “Gafas Violetas” program in the construction of a more inclusive film offer. In addition, he highlighted the construction of the Incaa archive, whose objective is to recover and safeguard the history of national cinema as part of the Argentine cultural heritage.
