Inauguration of the La Malbaie project facilities

The official inauguration of the Chemin du Havre facilities took place in the presence of several dignitaries, collaborators and members of the municipal council. This project materializes the enhancement of one of the most beautiful areas of the city and also meets the entertainment and hospitality needs of the citizens of the City of La Malbaie and the tourist clientele.

This evening kicked off more than 130 events that will be presented until the end of August. Large-scale musical shows, family evenings, [email protected] with Charlevoix artists, classic mornings in collaboration with Domaine Forget, cinemas in the Park in collaboration with the Charlevoix Museum, nature encounters with GUEPE Charlevoix, sports sessions, storytelling hours and starry evenings in collaboration with the Club d’astronomie de Charlevoix. Something to interest not only all our citizens, but also visitors to our region.

“This is a great day for the La Malbaie Project, whose facilities, located in the heart of the city, will benefit both tourists and citizens of our National Capital. In addition to facilitating intermodal travel across the region, this signature place, between the river and the mountains, will enhance the cultural and event offerings with a varied program. I am delighted, once again, to see the momentum that the FRCN can bring to projects like this. I salute the commitment of the MRC de Charlevoix-Est and thank all the partners who have contributed to this great success. »

Geneviève Guilbault, Deputy Premier, Minister of Public Security and Minister responsible for the Capitale-Nationale region

“To attract and retain visitors, we must offer them attractions and activities that meet their expectations. With this new cultural and event center on the banks of the river, the City of La Malbaie has shown vision in this regard. I congratulate her on this achievement, which will undoubtedly generate significant tourism spinoffs in the region,” said Caroline Proulx, Minister of Tourism and Minister responsible for the Lanaudière and Bas-Saint-Laurent regions.

“Pointe-au-Pic was once the tourist gateway to La Malbaie. All the tools are now in place to ensure that it regains its panache! La Malbaie has all this great potential and this new project will further enhance the great dynamism that characterizes the region! There are so many great leisure, hospitality and cultural resources in our county! This haven will be the point”

Caroline Desbiens, MNA, Beauport-Côte-de-Beaupré-Île d’Orléans-Charlevoix

“The MRC is proud to have contributed financially to the creation of this unifying place accessible to the entire population, thus confirming its role of proximity in regional economic development and in the vitality of its environment”, mentions Ms. Odile Comeau, Prefect of the MRC de Charlevoix-Est, specifying that “nearly $380,000 was granted to the City by the MRC for its La Malbaie Project via the Regions and Rurality Fund (part 2 and part 4) and the Regional Fund of the Capitale-Nationale”.

“As a cooperative, our mission is to contribute to the economic and social well-being of individuals and communities. The La Malbaie Project is a major economic project that will energize a very popular sector. It will also be a place of gathering and entertainment where culture can be expressed in all its forms. This is a project that will benefit the population of La Malbaie but also, and certainly, neighboring municipalities and visitors to the region. For all these reasons, we are more than proud to have supported the City of La Malbaie in its efforts by granting an amount of $129,000 from the Fonds du Grand Mouvement,” the Presidents of the boards of directors of Desjardins caisses in the Charlevoix region.

“This place steeped in history now lives up to its reputation. We are proud to deliver infrastructure that enhances the landscape and that will allow people to live enriching experiences. We also want this sector of Pointe-au-Pic to be the place where people can obtain the necessary information and means of transportation to fully experience Malbaie and of course all of Charlevoix. »

Michel Couturier, Mayor of the City of La Malbaie

The Malbaie in effervescence!

The inauguration of the park and the stopover on the way to Le Havre does not put an end to the development of the city, on the contrary, one can feel the effervescence since several projects are evolving rapidly. Over the next few years, more than 300 million will be invested in the city. Think of the construction of the new Félix-Antoine-Savard school, which will be completed in 2023, of the new hospital to come, of the complete overhaul of rue Saint-Étienne between boul. de Comporté and rue Bellerive, the Espace Hubert-Reeves project which is progressing or even the development of the innovation center which will breathe new life into technologies. Watch La Malbaie, you will still hear about it often!
