President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir, Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil and Regent of Sukabumi Marwan Hamami inaugurated Section 2 of the Ciawi-Sukabumi Toll Road, the Cigombong-Cibadak section in Sukabumi, Friday (4/8/2023).
Jokowi said the 11.9 km Ciawi-Sukabumi Toll Road section of Cigombong-Cibadak was completed and ready to operate. Meanwhile, according to the Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) Miftachul Munir, toll fees will be free until August 20, 2023.
“After it is inaugurated, the Cigombong-Cibadak section will be operated without tariffs until August 20, 2023,” said Miftachul in a written statement, Friday (4/8/2023).
The construction of the Cigombong-Cibadak toll road costs Rp 3.2 trillion. With the completion of this road section, the travel time from Jakarta to Sukabumi which previously took 5-6 hours can now be accelerated to around 2.5 hours.
“This section will speed up the mobility of people and goods and also related to investment. Because from a survey of existing investors, West Java ranks first because the most toll roads have been built,” Jokowi said.
The Ciawi-Sukabumi Toll Road consists of 4 sections with a total length of 54 km. Until now, Section 1 Ciawi-Cigombong with a length of 15.35 km has been in operation since December 2018. Section 2 of Cigombong-Cibadak has previously been used to facilitate the homecoming flow of Idul Fitri 15 April 2023 to 1 May 2023
Then the other two sections are Section 3 of the Cibadak-West Sukabumi section of 13.70 km with land acquisition progress of 86%, and Section 4 of the West Sukabumi-East Sukabumi section of 13.05 km with land acquisition progress of 9.9%.
“We hope that Section 3 of Cibadak-West Sukabumi can be completed by the end of 2024, meaning that it has passed the point of severe congestion at Cibadak Market,” said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono.
Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) Miftachul Munir said that after Section 2 is operational, Section 3 of the Cibadak-West Sukabumi section will continue. This can be a solution to congestion from or towards Sukabumi and even to Pelabuhan Ratu on the South Coast of Java.
The Cigombong-Cibadak Toll Road will be connected to the Bogor area which is connected to the Jagorawi toll road. This toll road is expected to increase access to tourism areas around Lido, Sukabumi, Pelabuhan Ratu, Ujung Genteng to the Ciletuh Geopark.
In addition, it will further facilitate the connectivity of the people’s economy both from the industrial, goods and service sectors because it will be connected to the South Coast of West Java from Sukabumi to Pangandaran.
