Inauguration of Marciac Gymnasium: A Milestone in the Development of Municipal Infrastructure

After the inauguration of the jazz festival on Thursday evening, Carole Delga, president of the Region, was able to inaugurate the Marciac gymnasium yesterday. The construction of this equipment began on October 14, 2019.

The Sivom Miélan Marciac was the delegated contracting authority “and it was the obstacle course of which we can measure the progress made today” underlines Jean-Louis Guilhaumon, mayor of Marciac. The gymnasium having opened its doors in September 2022. The budget for such a project amounts to €1.847 million, subsidized at the rate of 74.33%.

“A trio of funding: State, Region, Department”, as Carole Delga points out. Also as a reminder, an exceptional income linked to the installation of photovoltaic panels made it possible to reduce self-financing to 22%. The magnificent climbing wall was financed at 70.58% by the Participative Budget on the initiative of the departmental council. It should be noted that “the region has few climbing walls of this level, moreover in rural territory”, underlined Carole Delga. Thus this beautiful equipment has seen the birth of 4 new associations (badminton, futsal, climbing, volleyball). It benefits sports associations, schools, schools and colleges.

The mayor is delighted that “college students can finally benefit from quality equipment”. He thanks all the partners, State, Region, Department, Sivom for their financial and technical involvement. Philippe Dupouy recalls “the strong attachment of the departmental council to support communities in a proactive policy”.

Carole Delga specifies “that she found this project of grouping school and sports equipment particularly interesting, thus creating an educational and sports center (nursery, leisure center, schools, college, gymnasium) facilitating fluidity, and access to these establishments for parents and educators”.

The prefect of the Gers Xavier Brunetière specifies that the state’s investment in this project is “an illustration of the philosophy of the Small Towns of Tomorrow to have projects that radiate and benefit a territory that goes far beyond the community”.

Yesterday, the mayor thanked the assembly before inviting visitors to visit the entire gymnasium and then to participate in a lunch aperitif organized by the municipal team with the greatest attention.
