Inail, in the first two months of the year, reports of deaths at work rose by 19%

MILAN – The count of workplace accident reports submitted to INAIL is updated and in the first two months of 2024 they rise to 92,711 (+7.2% compared to January-February 2023). There were 119 fatal cases (+19.0%). There was an increase in reported occupational diseases, which amounted to 14,099 (+35.6%).

This is indicated by INAIL’s monthly open data, which – the Institute recalls – are provisional.

The Ministry of Labor also intervenes on the numbers, specifying that they concern accident reports and not confirmed cases, i.e. those recognized at the end of the administrative process. Sources from the ministry – calling for “caution in the comparison – remind us that the total takes into account absences from work even for just one day (excluding that of the event), while only those recognized as such at the end of the period can be considered “accidents at work”. administrative and healthcare process for each individual complaint.
