Teotihuacan, Mex. The National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) placed suspension seals on the construction work of the portals that the city council carries out in the first square as part of urban beautification.
The works are carried out in area B considered a restriction of the Teotihuacán Archaeological Zone, considering that it has a high value of archaeological remains.
A few days ago the local authorities began the construction of some portals on Juárez Street to unify the image in the first painting of the Magic Town.
The construction was supervised by inspectors from the institute who placed the suspension seals, protected by the Federal Law on Archaeological, Artistic and Historical Monuments and Zones and its Regulations.
The center of Teotihuacán, already urbanized, is located within the perimeter of the protection zone established around the archaeological zone.
Article 42 of said regulation establishes that all work, including the placement of advertisements, notices, posters and any other installation, must have prior authorization from the INAH.
The government of Teotihuacán will be obliged to comply with the requirements established by the federation in order to continue with the work before the end of the fiscal year.
Merchants on that street expressed their annoyance at the suspension, since this could affect their sales.
