A Contracorriente Films re-premieres a completely restored 4K version in 89 cinemas throughout Spain. On February 6, 1921, Chaplin released his first feature film, ‘The Boy’, with which he took a decisive step forward in his career. The creator of one of the most famous characters in popular culture, the kind-hearted wanderer known in our country as Charlot, He had already shown his talent in the field of short films, but from then on his mastery would manifest itself in all its splendor, both in silent and sound films.
Charles Chaplin has been, is and will be one of the great names in the history of cinema. ‘El chico’ was the first of his many contributions to the seventh art, with such outstanding and unforgettable titles as ‘The great dictator’, ‘Modern times’, ‘Luces de la ciudad’ or ‘Candilejas’.
The film tells how Charlot is forced to adopt an abandoned baby. It doesn’t take long for him to become fond of him and when he grows up he teaches him some essential street survival techniques. Over time the two form a great team to find a life. But one day, the sick boy and social services try to wrest custody of the beloved homeless man.
