L’iPhone hit the world in Q1 2021. With a 65% growth in turnover (and probably not far from the same percentage for sales in volume), the iPhone has garnered nearly 48 billion dollars, or more than half of all Apple’s revenue! To the United States, the new range ofiPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro has not been unworthy. Counterpoint believes that the 5G iPhone almost alone explains the explosion in sales of 5G mobile phones in the US. During Q3 2020, the share of 5G mobiles was only 14% of all smartphone sales, but in Q4 2020 and Q1 2021, this share rose … to 57%!
The iPhone is also carving out the lion’s share in terms of turnover and profits. During Q1, the iPhone generated 34.4% of all revenues in the mobile sector… and 42% of profits in the said sector. Samsung must be satisfied with 20% of turnover and 17.5% of profits. Behind, there is a trio of Chinese firms (OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi) which oscillate around 5.5% of turnover and 8% of profits.
