In Upper Franconia: Sparkassen are planning “Citizens’ Offices” – Upper Franconia

Despite poor interest rate business and falling profits, Maier sees good prospects for the Upper Franconian savings banks. The securities, insurance and real estate sectors would be doing well and had great potential.

The Kulmbach Sparkasse boss Harry Weiß pointed out that a new investment policy – real estate instead of government bonds – could generate better income for savings banks. With the proposed “citizens’ offices”, the aim is to bring the bank to the site with the help of a PC.

The savings banks remain important regional employers and taxpayers. According to Maier, the six institutes paid 16.1 million euros in trade tax and 21 million euros in corporate income tax last year. 3.5 million euros were donated.

To strengthen their profile, the savings banks want to expand their communication. Söllner announced an offensive in terms of public relations. The savings banks “should draw more attention to themselves”.
