In Poltava, unknown persons smashed two memorial plaques to fallen participants in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) in the Donbass. On Sunday, April 5, told UNIAN acting mayor Alexander Shamota.

According to him, the vandals broke the plates at night, the police are studying the recordings of CCTV cameras. The police explained that the broken boards were not anti-vandal. The third could not be broken, the attackers only tore off the flower stand. All tablets were in the same area. At the end of November in Poltava, boards were already smashed to the participants of the ATO, the Alley of Remembrance of the Fallen Fighters was defeated.

The military conflict in eastern Ukraine began in 2014. Part of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions got out of control of Kiev. The Ukrainian authorities began the ATO, which was replaced in 2018 by the operation of the combined forces (OOS). Kiev accuses Russia of supporting separatism and occupation. Moscow rejects the claim.
