The Dnieper district court of Kiev closed the case against Igor Kucheryavy, a member of the political council of the Sevastopol branch of United Russia. The judge explained his decision by the expiration of the statute of limitations for bringing the accused to criminal liability.
A motion to dismiss the case was filed by the defense of Mr. Kucheryavy, who pleaded guilty to the infringement of the territorial integrity of Ukraine (under part 2 of article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine he was threatened with three to five years in prison). The representative of the prosecutor’s office agreed with the court decision.
Recall that Sevastopol United Russia Igor Kucheryavy was detained by SBU employees on December 3 at a checkpoint across the Ukrainian-Russian border in the Crimea. The law enforcement agency said that a member of the political council of the city branch of “United Russia” came to the Kherson region to obtain a Ukrainian passport. According to the materials of the criminal case, in March 2014, Igor Kucheryavyy joined the “tactical group“ Sevastopol Autocanal ””, which coordinated the “Self-Defense of Sevastopol” checkpoints in the city.
