The Dutch national football team won Poland in Group A of the League of Nations (UEFA) on Friday, while the Italians lost important points against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Netherlands beat Poland 1: 0 (0: 0) in the first group A game in Amsterdam.

The only goal in this duel in the 61st minute was Steven Bergvijns, who received a pass from the partner along the front of the goal and directed the ball to the empty goal.

In another game of this group, Italy played a 1: 1 (0: 0) draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina in Florence.

In the 57th minute of the game, the Bosniaks were put in the lead by Edina Jacko’s blow. A foul called during a Bosnia and Herzegovina counterattack resulted in a great chance to score, but Džeko’s shot rattled off the post.

The Italians did not hesitate and ten minutes later Stefano Sensi recovered in a draw, ending the game with a score of 1: 1.

With three points, the Netherlands is in first place after one game, while Italy and Bosnia and Herzegovina have scored, and the Poles are “dry”.

Meanwhile, in the first group B game in Oslo, Austria with 2: 1 (1: 0) won the home team Norway.

In the League of Nations, the group winners earn the opportunity to play in a higher group next year. Namely, the team that wins in one of the C groups has a chance to start in one of the B groups, while the winners of the B groups will be strong in the A groups next year.

Those teams that have won the first two places in their groups, but have not previously qualified for the 2022 World Cup, will be eligible to participate in the World Cup qualification “play-off” round.

The League of Nations tournament is taking place for the second year. In the first season of the League of Nations, Portugal was crowned the winner.
