In two months, he has already broken the bank! Francois Pirault, 29 years old, has just won more than 200,000 euros in online poker since the start of 2021, nearly half of the gains accumulated since the start of his career.
Professional player, the native of Nantes has been living in the suburbs of London, at Wimbledon, since July 2017, after two years spent in Marrakech (Morocco). An exile in the United Kingdom where taxation is more attractive than in France, does not hide the young man whose parents still live in Sautron (Loire-Atlantique).
At the beginning of January, the “sportsman” won one of the biggest online poker competitions organized by Winamax, la Top Shark Academy. In the final round, François played 424 tournaments, spent 24,157 euros in registration fees and obtained gains of 73,292 euros, ie a benefit of nearly 50,000 euros.
For each euro spent, the winner thus recovered a little more than three! A unique feat in the history of competition. “From Thursday evening 8 pm to the following Thursday, I played for 87:45,” François calculated. A monstrous performance that offers him a contract of 50,000 euros and a whole year under the colors of Winamax.

Routine
A turning point in the career of the Nantes resident who discovered the discipline as a teenager, first with friends “with a briefcase and tokens”, then by joining an association. The beginnings on the Internet were then a little rough.
I started playing online when I was 18 and after two years I had only won 20 euros. It wasn’t that I was out of luck: I found out that I was not very good.
A decade later, François Pirault, alias On_The_Road, gained skills. In 2021, he seems to have found the right formula to chain the results. Over a typical week, he thus devotes six days a week in poker, including two to study the game. With a well-established routine: ” fixed sleep rhythm, meals prepared beforehand, sport and meditation ”.
A psychological aspect which is also fundamental, he points out. “I worked a lot on my mind by being coached and surrounding myself with the right people. In recent years, I have accumulated experience, which allows me to be more regular at the table ”.
“Financial security”
Finalist de la Top Shark Academy and 2018, the people of Nantes have learned from their past mistakes to spray the competition this year. The contract with Winamax will give it the opportunity, if sanitary conditions allow it, “to browse the most prestigious poker festivals on the planet”, explains the platform.

What reassure his relatives and his father in particular. “It was not too hot, admits the native of Nantes, who stopped studying after a license in Accounting-Control-Audit obtained at the university, but that has changed since… Now, he even follows my performances! “
The profits amassed by François at the start of 2021 will allow him to approach the rest of the season with serenity, his annual objective having already been exceeded by far. “It’s a financial security”, recognizes François who does not intend to stop there, he who aims for the medium term a world champion bracelet in Las Vegas.
