Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek chaired the government meeting to discuss the consequences of Russia’s economic measures against Turkey, Bloomberg reported, citing the country’s government representative.

The meeting took place with the participation of the representatives of the Ministry of Economy of Turkey. “The consequences for the Turkish economy were discussed,” the agency said in a statement. Later, Mehmet Simsek will prepare a final briefing for the Prime Minister of the country, Ahmet Davutoglu, at which he will indicate the countermeasures, a source from the agency noted.

On November 28, the Kremlin press service reported on the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation on measures related to national security and on special economic measures against Turkey. The President ordered the introduction of a ban on charter flights between the countries, prohibited employers from January 1, 2016 from hiring employees – citizens of Turkey, ordered to prohibit or limit the activities of organizations under Turkish jurisdiction on the territory of Russia and ordered to prohibit or restricted the import of some Turkish goods.

Relations between Russia and Turkey worsened after the incident involving a Russian military plane. A Russian Su-24 front-line bomber was shot down in Syria. The Russian president said the plane was shot down by an air-to-air missile from a Turkish F-16 fighter jet over Syrian territory and fell in Syria four kilometers from the border with Turkey. The Russian president called it a “stab in the back” by terrorist supporters.
