The third wave of coronavirus infection differs from the first two in that more severe patients are now admitted to hospitals, doctors say.

In the Transcarpathian region, the situation with the coronavirus is deteriorating. Hospitals are overcrowded and most patients have severe COVID-19. This was stated by the chief physician of the central city clinical hospital of Uzhgorod, Ivan Kurakh, on the air of the TV channel. Ukraine 24.

According to him, the third wave of coronavirus in Transcarpathia is much more difficult than the previous two.

“The situation is very critical. A lot of seriously ill patients were admitted. The first and second waves of coronavirus were milder. The third wave is too difficult,” the doctor said.

He added that in the central city clinical hospital of Uzhgorod, five departments have already been re-equipped for patients with coronavirus and there are not enough places again.

Kurakh noted. That patients are admitted in a very serious condition and not all of them can be saved.

“We now have 190 beds. There is no other way out, because many patients are admitted. During that night, 8 patients were admitted to us, unfortunately, six were not helped. Patients are admitted in a very neglected state with severe respiratory failure. Most of the patients are aged have oncology and diabetes mellitus, “Ivan Kurakh said.

Recall regular railway service is suspended in Transcarpathiadue to the introduction of the area into the “red zone” of the quarantine. Ukrzaliznytsia opens several special flights.
