In Tlacolula, Oaxaca, 30 students are poisoned with “azulitos”

  • At least 30 students from Technical Secondary School number 48, located in Tlacolula de Matamoros, Oaxaca, suffered poisoning after ingesting “azulitos“, an alcoholic drink that is popular among young people.

Oaxaca.-This unfortunate event took place during a carnival that took place on Friday, November 15, 2024, an event that is normally associated with fun and coexistence, but on this occasion it became an emergency situation.

The affected students, mostly teenagers, began to show symptoms of intoxication shortly after consuming the drink. Medical services were quickly alerted and arrived at the scene to provide care to the young people.

Among those affected, three children under 12 years of age were considered in serious condition and, therefore, were under medical observation to ensure their recovery and monitor any complications that may arise.

The drink “azulitos” is recognized for its high alcohol content, which has raised concerns on multiple occasions regarding its consumption among minors.

This incident has prompted an urgent call to the community and educational authorities to take effective measures to address the problem of alcohol consumption among young people, as well as to ensure a safe environment at school events, where health and well-being of students must be the priority.
