In this Rhodopean village are 1/3 of the Bulgarians with the rare disease of Fabri

Dr. Mitko Hadjiev is a general practitioner in a picturesque Rhodopean village. He bought an ultrasound scanner with his own funds, with which he was able to diagnose oncological diseases of six of his patients at an early stage, thus saving their lives.

It takes care of 1,800 people. His patient list also includes 12 people suffering from the very rare and difficult to diagnose Fabry disease. They receive their therapy on the spot from Dr. Hadjiev and do not have to travel.

Curiously, 1/3 of the Bulgarians with Fabry disease are in this village.
