A 9 mm bullet and other material evidence were removed from the scene, the police said.
A 9-year-old child was hospitalized in Novograd-Volynsky with a through gunshot wound to his back. A soldier was involved in the incident, informs management of the National Police in the Zhytomyr region on Monday, July 12.
“Information about the incident came at 14:30 from the doctors. The wounded boy in serious condition was immediately hospitalized in the intensive care unit, where the doctors provide the necessary assistance. The police officers of the investigative-operational group of the Novograd-Volynsky district department immediately left for the hospital,” the message says.
According to preliminary data, the incident allegedly happened on the bank of a local river, however, during the establishment of the circumstances, this information was not confirmed. The cops carried out a number of other investigative measures and as a result of an urgent search at the place of residence of the wounded boy, law enforcement officers found evidence that the child was wounded in the house.
“A 9-mm bullet and other material evidence were removed from the scene. It has also now been established that a resident of Kiev, a soldier, an acquaintance of his father’s who arrived the day before, was involved in inflicting a gunshot wound on the child,” the law enforcement officers said.
The relevant information has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations with prequalification under the article on intentional grievous bodily injury (part 1 of article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
