in the years 25 victims for this cause

Great fear all over the world. Numerous cases of non-functioning airbags have been found and a factory defect has been found in ben over 30 million airbags installed on models of approx 20 car manufacturers.

A cause for fear are the airbags of the Japanese car company Takata, which had already had to declare bankruptcy in 2017 following millions of recalls and today it risks big again.

The components of the Takata company are being examined

The Japanese company Takata produces various automotive components, including airbags, and owns its companies on four different continents. In Europe, the registered office is in Germany and according to the German weekly Der Spiegel, the United States Department of Transportation (NHTSA) has launched a new investigation into 30 million vehicles equipped with potentially defective Takata airbags. But – as we mentioned – it is not the first time that the company has raised suspicions related to the operation of the airbags.

In 2013 3.6 million cars they had been withdrawn from the market following many accidents that had seen the malfunction of the airbags, produced by Takata Airbags, a member of the Japanese group.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) – that is the US body that oversees automobile and highway safety – raises the alarm and has decided to screen all cars which own components of the Japanese company Takata, assembled from 2001 to 2019.

25 deaths worldwide due to defective airbags

The cars involved are many, in particular those of these brands: Honda, Ford, Toyota, General Motors, Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Ferrari, Mazda, Dalmier, Bmw, Chrysler, Porsche and Jaguar Land Rover. Not all cars of these companies have this component and at the moment none of these big car manufacturers have come out with a statement about the matter.

It is not even the first time that cars have been withdrawn from the market due to safety concerns. Suffice it to say that in the last 10 years 100 million vehicles have been recalled due to malfunctions of their airbags. Going then to see the specific case of the Japanese company, over the years 67 million cars have been involved (the latest recalls are dated January 2020) and 25 people who have died worldwide have lost their lives due to defective airbags.
