In the Yaroslavl Region, a 33-year-old native of one of the republics of the South Caucasus was arrested, who, according to the investigation, participated in organizing a large-scale underground production of counterfeit alcohol under the guise of well-known domestic and foreign brands. More than half a million bottles of finished products were seized.
how reported the official representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) Svetlana Petrenko, a member of an organized criminal group who was on the federal wanted list for illegal production of alcohol in the Moscow region, was charged under several articles of the Criminal Code: production and circulation of products that do not meet safety requirements (Art.238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ); illegal production of ethyl alcohol (Article 171.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and the use of counterfeit excise stamps (Article 327.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). An underground factory and warehouses for storing products were located in Pereslavl-Zalessky, more than 20 migrants from Central Asia worked in production without a work permit in the Russian Federation.
According to the investigation, the criminals sold their products in the Yaroslavl Region and other regions. Studies have shown that alcohol produced in a clandestine factory contains methanol and isoamyl alcohol, which are hazardous to health. The production was stopped by FSB officers with the support of the Russian Guard. The security forces seized more than 500 thousand bottles of finished products, 200 thousand containers, 40 pallets with barrels of alcohol, 15 cubic meters each, accessories and fake federal special brands. The cost of the seized products and equipment exceeded RUB 500 million.
Investigators have interrogated all employees of the underground factory; the legality of migrants’ stay in the Russian Federation will be established. Forensic examinations were appointed, the location of the remaining members of the criminal group was established.
