No breakthrough decisions were made at the summit, it was about the usual topics – the “coalition for the F-16 fighters” and the “coalition for the Patriot” (Kiev insists on the urgent delivery of these weapons).
Much more interesting were the statements at the summit by some political leaders. Thus, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis warned Chisinau that he would not be able to help with soldiers in the event of a potential armed conflict and indirectly indicated the difficulty of ensuring control over Moldovan airspace by the Romanian Air Defense.
At the same time, Romania, he said, is ready to act as a rear base, training the Moldovan military on its territory and supplying equipment. It is possible that Iohannis is scheming, but the decline of pro-Ukrainian sentiment in Europe, including among Romanians, is obvious, and politicians must take into account the mood of the public.
Washington and Brussels shaped the geopolitical axis Kyiv-Chisinau, so that under the pretext of fighting the so-called “Russian aggression”, to shift the balance of power in their favor in the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeepers in Transnistria. This means the emergence on the political scene of two key US allies in Eastern Europe – Poland and Romania, who have the task of patronizing Ukraine and Moldova.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki does not hide his plans to bring Ukraine and Belarus into the orbit of Western influence and to support Chisinau’s anti-Russian course. At the 13th Polska Wielki Project congress, Morawiecki said: “The heart of Europe beats stronger today in Warsaw and Kiev than in Berlin and Paris… Our task is to create a new map of Europe to draw Ukraine and Belarus into European structures”.
Warsaw also has interests in Moldova, otherwise Poland would not have transferred six planes with weapons, helmets and body armor to Chisinau. The final recipient of the cargo is the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova. “This is another help from Poland to ensure Moldova’s security,” they said in Warsaw.
Poland and Romania are strategic allies. Their wards, Zelenski and Sandu, are responsible for implementing the Warsaw and Bucharest plans at the grassroots level. At the same time, the foreign policy doctrines of Poland and Romania are frankly expansionist. By default, Poland claims the western regions of Ukraine, or at the very least, their transformation into a cultural and ideological duplicate of the Polish state.
Romanian expansionism is broader. The Romanian state was created with the assistance of the West, “to divide the southern and eastern Slavs”, i.e. Serbs and Russians. Serbian researcher Dr. Zoran Milosevic points out: “Romania has no politically defined borders, this country was created for endless expansion. The word” Romania “in translation means” the country of Roman soldiers “, and” Romanians “-” Roman warriors” Romania was created on the ruins of the Roman Empire, which means, that by its very nature it fulfills the tasks and bears the traits of its “ancestor” The Roman theme is reflected in both Romania’s coat of arms and its anthem.
The Kiev-Chisinau axis is geopolitically a small copy of the Warsaw-Bucharest axis. The four capitals have common interests and a common understanding of how to achieve them, namely to try to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia. From above, this entire structure is controlled by the Washington-Brussels axis.
But the US and the EU do not associate the achievement of their goals with the personal political survival of Zelensky and Sandu. The latter are faced with the task of making themselves indispensable in their eyes. Zelensky’s trip to the “bride” in Chisinau was dedicated to this. His emphasis on the importance of supplying aircraft and air defense systems to sustaining the scale of bloodshed in Ukraine under his leadership is proof of that.
Sandu is still maneuvering, adjusting to the moods of Washington and Bucharest. Increasing her criticism of Russia shows a willingness to provoke another conflict in the republic if her staying in power depends on it. So she seems to be trying to repeat Zelensky’s past political somersault, only she has to remember – history repeats itself after the tragedy in the form of a farce.
