American businessman Elon Musk met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, and the latter took him on a tour of areas that witnessed a Hamas attack on October 7.
Musk, the former owner of the “X” platform, “Twitter”, is also scheduled to meet with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, and a member of the war cabinet and former Defense Minister Benny Gantz.
Earlier Monday, Israel announced that it had agreed in principle with Musk to use the “Starlink” communications service, affiliated with the “SpaceX” company he owns, in the Gaza Strip.
The statement issued in this regard by Israeli Communications Minister Shlomo Qarai appears to represent a retreat from his opposition last month to Musk’s proposal to provide “Starlink” to “internationally recognized relief organizations” in Gaza.
Musk’s name has been mentioned frequently since the start of the current conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Accusations of anti-Semitism have pursued Musk over the past few days, after publications supporting Hitler and the Nazis appeared on the “X” platform.
The American billionaire also responded to a post saying that “Jews are using the same hatred against white people that they ask people to stop using against them,” and Musk commented by saying: “I have already told the truth.”
The White House condemned what it considered a “hateful promotion” of anti-Semitism by Musk.
The European Commission also said: “We have seen a worrying increase in disinformation and hate speech on several social media networks in recent weeks, and this of course includes the X platform.”
Musk had also sparked controversy after he gave his opinion on the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, where he said in an interview with broadcaster Alex Friedman: “If you commit genocide against an entire people, you will leave behind many living people who will consequently be haters of Israel.”
Last week, Musk announced that the X platform would donate all advertising and subscriptions related to the war in Gaza to hospitals in Israel, and the Red Cross and Red Crescent in Gaza.
