A car wash shouldn’t be an accident-prone place, but talk to this 77-year-old driver from Colmar, Pennsylvania, who’s recently had enough experience — and already ranks among the year’s fails.
From what the police said on TV 6abc Action News, the man was intent on making the payment at the terminal when he accidentally pressed the accelerator. His Toyota Camrywhich was not in the parking position, was then driven in a mad dash inside the car wash.
Unable to regain control, the car crashed into one of the structures before tipping onto its side, as seen in surveillance video now going viral:
The accident could have had serious consequences, because the door was not closed. The driver suffered a broken leg and was stranded for approximately 90 minutes while emergency personnel cut through the roof of the Camry to get him out.
The car wash owner told local media he was happy no one was seriously injured. A local customer said he didn’t believe such a flip was possible. We are of the same opinion.
In fact, if we decided to share this story with you, it’s a bit of a lesson for you: make sure you always park your vehicle when you stop for another activity, whether it’s paying at a kiosk, picking up an order at drive-thru, checking something in the car, etc.
