The referee of a match in a women’s football league match in the Democratic Republic of the Congo received a “severe hit”, after a decision that did not please the players of the losing team.
In a meeting between Motema Pembe and Mazembe, the referee refused to award a penalty kick demanded by the first team, which angered the players and the coaching staff.
Video footage circulating showed Motema Pembe players running behind the referee, who was running away from them holding a red card in his hand.
However, the referee finally fell into the hands of the players and the team’s coaching staff, and received a “hot comment”.
The incident occurred when Motema Pembe’s team was trailing 1-5 in the match.
