At the Bring a Trailer auction in the US, a “charged” 2004 Volkswagen Golf R32 with a range of 97 miles (156 km) was sold for $104,000. It is reported by The Drive.

The car, originally delivered to a dealer in New Jersey, is said to have subsequently been resold to another dealer, which it retained until 2020. After that, a private owner bought a practically new hatchback.

The car for sale is equipped with a 3.2-liter VR6 engine with 240 hp, a 6-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive with a Haldex clutch. The ideological successor of the car in the modern model range of the German company is the Volkswagen Golf R, which is offered in the United States at a price of $44.7 thousand. Thus, the saved copy of the Golf R32 was sold at auction more than 2.3 times more expensive than the modern serial counterpart.
