In the US, queues at gas stations form after a hacker attack

In the United States, after the hacker attack, the country’s largest fuel pipeline system has started to form queues at gas stations. More than 1,000 gas stations in the southeastern United States have reported depletion.

Part of drivers panic over fuel stocks after hacking attack a few days ago suffered the largest fuel pipeline system in the United Statessupplying the east coast states of the country. The queues are formed despite calls from officials not to panic.

The US government says there are no grounds for concern. It has put in place emergency measures to speed up the supply of fuel by truck, ship and rail.

The Colonial Pipeline fuel pipeline suffered a massive cyber attack last Friday. As a result, hackers managed to break into the pipeline operator’s computer system and steal more than 100 gigabytes of important data. After obtaining the data, the attackers blocked access to this information on certain computers and servers, as well as demanded a ransom.

The cyber attack completely shut down the 8,850-kilometer pipeline network. It supplies gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel and other refined petroleum products from Texas to New Jersey. Fuel supplies to some of the largest airports in the United States depend on this pipeline.
