Polish President Andrzej Duda announced the transfer of four MiG-29s to Ukraine in the coming days.

He said this at a press conference with the President of the Czech Republic on Thursday, reports “European Truth” with reference to rp.pl.

“In the coming days, we are transferring four aircraft to Ukraine in full working order. The rest of the aircraft are being serviced and prepared,” Duda said, without naming the exact number of MiG-29 aircraft that Poland will provide to Ukraine.

Duda said that the decision to transfer the aircraft was made at the level of state authorities.

“We can say with confidence that we are literally at this moment sending these MiGs to Ukraine. We still have a dozen of these MiGs today. These are the MiGs that we received in the early 1990s,” the Polish president said.

He stressed that in service with the Polish army, these aircraft will replace the FA-50 from South Korea, the first of which are expected before the end of the year. And then squadrons of F-35s will join them.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Tuesday that Poland can transfer fighter jets to Ukraine Soviet times in the coming weeks.

In addition Slovakia is considering transferring to Ukraine 10 out of 11 of its MiG-29 aircraft, which were withdrawn from service last year.
