The US Ambassador to the UN emphasized that the President of the Russian Federation did not announce the withdrawal of troops in his speech.
Russian President’s speech Vladimir Putin at a military parade in Moscow on May 9 showed that he had no reason to declare victory in Ukraine.
US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said: CNN.
“His efforts in Ukraine were unsuccessful. He could not bring the Ukrainians to their knees in a few days and force them to surrender,” the diplomat noted. “However, the conflict is certainly not over.”
At the same time, Thomas-Greenfield stressed that in his speech, Putin did not announce the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine and the achievement of an agreement with the Ukrainian authorities. According to her, this indicates that the war could become protracted and continue for several more months.
