CINEMA – Batman is back and he demands revenge in the first trailer for “The Batman”, unveiled on the night of Saturday 22 August to Sunday 23 August during the DC FanDom virtual convention, and visible above.
After very fleeting images unveiled in February by director Matt Reeves, Robert Pattison appears for the very first time in his role as Bruce Wayne. And the millionaire gentleman of the first versions seems well and truly put aside. With or without his mask, it is a much darker and colder Gotham vigilante who arrives on the screen, ready to do battle with anyone who gets in his way.
Who will he meet? According to this trailer of 2 minutes 30, he will find himself facing a novice CatWoman, played by Zoe Kravitz, and will not escape the unmistakable Commissioner Gordon, in the guise of Jeffrey Wright.
What about supervillains? Riddler, played by Paul Dano, will also be there. But one of the biggest surprises of this trailer came from Colin Farrell, unrecognizable as the Penguin.
I had to search the eyes to confirm this is, in fact, my man Colin Farrell. #TheBatman#DCFanDomepic.twitter.com/VMwN70EoKJ
Like many super-productions, the film’s release, slated for June 2021, has been delayed. However, the wait is only expected to be extended by a few months, with one arriving in theaters in late October, according to The Verge.
In the meantime, fans will have plenty of time to speculate on the film’s success, comparing these early images to Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster films. And if we are to believe the reception given to this first teaser, Matt Reeves’ challenge seems on track to succeed.
Ah #TheBatman, that’s the Hollywood I love. When they understand that making money and making art are not mutually exclusive. Big war machine in sight.
IT’S TOO BEAUTIFUL ????????????The aesthetic of the film is sublime, extremely dark and the atmosphere looks very creepy ????A Batman Noir, violent, brutal, which is also the perfect definition of the universe of this # TheBatman ???? Highly 2021 !!! # DCFanDome # WarnerBros # dccomicspic.twitter.com / AIX8HzbpKC
