On this day, the Minister of Finance, Álvaro González Ricci and the president, Alejandro Giammattei, inaugurated the 2022 Open Budget process, in which Ministers and Secretaries of State, from multilateral banks, international financial organizations and representatives of the Superintendency of Administration participated. Tax (SAT).

In his speech, the president explained to official media that next year’s Budget must be adequate to the current difficulties, especially due to the issue of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Pretending to continue with a budget of 3 years ago, which does not respond to the interests of society, would be a punishment not for the Government, but for a people that is in need of answers in education, health, in government, in infrastructure,” he argued. the head of government.

“Today we are going to enter a third year of government with a budget very different from the budgets we have had, a budget that favors investment,” he added.

The president indicated that he expects the collaboration of the deputies of Congress to approve the project, “we are going to ask the Congress that the deputies that I am sure will put their hands on their conscience, they will help us to see this budget with good eyes.”

The president says that the Open Budget will generate “confidence” and that it will demonstrate levels of transparency that “had never been reached”.



ACCORDING TO MINFIN, SEVERAL SECTORS WILL BE CALLED

The head of the Treasury portfolio, Álvaro González Ricci, explained that civil society, the private sector, academia and multilateral organizations will be able to participate in the workshops, with the aim of reaching a consensus on the 2022 Budget Project: «There will be 7 thematic workshops where each of the ministries will expose the way they will invest the resources, “he said.

As reported by a communication from the Ministry of Finance, the Thematic Workshops will focus on job creation and recovery of the tourism sector, investments in strategic infrastructure for development, strengthening of the Public Health System and social security, closing of educational gaps, migration and reduction of poverty, food and nutrition security, and the Justice sector.
