The Dutch doctor’s second practice took place on the already completely dry Zandvoort track, but the fastest result was achieved by Mercedes driver George Russell.
The drivers of the Mercedes and McLaren teams took the first four positions. Russell was just 0.061 seconds quicker than Oscar Piastre, with last year’s Belgian stage winner Lewis Hamilton third, and fourth the fastest pilot of the first use, Lando Norris. Championship leader Max Verstappen takes fifth place this time.
Carlos Sainz had problems with the gearbox, so the Ferrari pilot did not show a competitive result.
Nico Hilkenberg crashed in the first half of practice, sliding in the first corner. The Haas machine slid across the gravel strip and lightly hit the tire guard on its side. Red flags had to be raised for a while.
Before the stage of the Netherlands, the leader Verstappen has a lead of 78 points over the closest follower Norris in the drivers’ position, but in the Constructors’ Cup “Red Bull” it is only 42 points more than “McLaren”.
Another training session is scheduled for Saturday, but at The qualification will start at 16:00 Latvian time, and the competition will start on Sunday at 16:00.
