The Liberal Democratic Party proposed calling the President of the Russian Federation the ruler because of the historical difference.
In the Russian Federation, it was proposed to officially call Putin “ruler” or “head of state.” This proposal was made by the LDPR functionaries. On Sunday, July 10, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the Duma faction.
Zhirinovsky’s heirs explained their initiative by saying that the word “president” has foreign roots, and the position should be renamed before it “takes root completely.”
“The title of the position of the head of state has always confused us. The term “president” in the sense of the head of the executive branch was first used only at the end of the 18th century in the United States, and much later spread around the world. In our country, this is a new word by historical standards, and, for now, it has not taken root completely, you can safely replace it,” the LDPR explained.
The LDPR believes that the president of 1991 and the current president are two persons of different status, since Boris Yeltsin was elected according to the Constitution of the RSFSR, and Vladimir Putin according to the Constitution of Russia.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the LDPR’s initiative to change the official title of the head of state.
According to Peskov, the Kremlin has not yet thought about this: “This is a new idea.”
“There is no position on this issue,” Putin’s spokesman added.
Recall that the Nobel Peace Prize winner, former President of Poland, 78-year-old Lech Walesa believes that quantitatively Russia should be reduced up to 50 million people.
