JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – President Joko Widodo asked the government to be given flexibility in running the wheels of government in the future crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

It was conveyed Jokowi when opening the “Kick Off Meeting Examination of the Management and Responsibility of State Finances in a Pandemic” at the State Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (8/9/2020).

The event was attended by the Head of the Supreme Audit Agency, Agung Firman Sampurna.

“We still need time to get out of this crisis. The government still needs work flexibility and simplicity of procedures,” said Jokowi through the YouTuber channel of the Presidential Secretariat.

Jokowi said that when dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic the government was required to work extra fast so that they should not be trapped in the complexity of existing procedures.

According to Jokowi, in a time of health crisis that caused this economic crisis, the main thing was not to carry out procedures, but to save people from Covid-19 transmission and poverty.

Nevertheless, Jokowi reminded his staff to carry out all programs for handling Covid-19 and national economic recovery in a transparent and accountable manner, without losing speed.

He also asked the auditors CPC have the same frequency as the government in responding to this crisis situation.

“I hope every examiner has the same frequency, for the priority of the interests of the people, the interests of the nation and the interests of the state,” said Jokowi.
