According to the Baltic Security Fund, the armored vehicles are not intended for Ukraine – they were used in the NATO operation Atlantic Resolve and were redeployed to the United States at the end of February this year.
From the port of the Polish city of Gdynia, hundreds of pieces of military equipment went to the United States. Related video published Baltic Security Fund 4 March.
The US 1st Cavalry Division’s 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team was reportedly stationed in Poland as part of the Alliance’s Operation Atlantic Resolve.
On February 28, military equipment was prepared for redeployment to the United States of America.
Operation Atlantic Resolve
According to Wikipedia, Operation Atlantic Resolve refers to NATO military action in response to Russian actions in Ukraine, mainly the war in Donbas. It was funded under the European Containment Initiative. Following Russia’s 2014 invasion of Ukraine, the US and UK took a number of urgent steps to build deterrence on NATO’s eastern flank, including increased air, ground and naval presence in the region, as well as stepping up previously planned exercises.
The US described these actions as taking steps to strengthen NATO’s military plans and defense capabilities and maintain a permanent presence in Central and Eastern Europe.
Recall, on March 2, it was reported about the start of the annual exercises of NATO countries Allied Spirit 23 in Germany, in which Ukrainian fighters from the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian named after the Great Hetman Konstantin Ostrogsky will take part.
Earlier, on February 28, a U.S. E-6B Mercury doomsday aircraft arrived in Iceland. The command explained that the US Armed Forces often conduct exercises in the Arctic with the country’s allies.
Also on February 28, Reuters reported plans to increase production of HIMARS systems in Arkansas. It was noted that the demand for MLRS increased after their successful use by the Ukrainian military.
