HILL BACK In the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug, one person with corona has died in the past two weeks. During this period, from October 28 to November 10, there were 203 registered infections. No corona patients had to be hospitalized. This is reported by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM).
Nationally, 4,695 new corona cases were registered between Monday morning and Tuesday morning. That is almost the same as Monday, when the RIVM reported 4701 cases. Initially there were 4709, but that was adjusted on Tuesday. This brings the number of positive tests back to the level of early October. On October 6 there were 4,541 new corona cases, the next day 4,985.
The number of deaths increased by 98 in the last 24 hours. That does not mean that all these people died in the past 24 hours. Such information is sometimes passed on with some delay. 40 deaths were reported between Sunday morning and Monday morning.
REPRODUCTION NUMBER The so-called reproduction number, which indicates how fast the virus is circulating, has completely fallen below 1, for the first time since mid-June. The decrease is due to “the measures that came into effect at the end of September and mid-October”, according to the RIVM.
The reproduction number now stands at 0.91. That means that 100 infected people infect 91 others, which in turn infect about 83 others. For example, the virus is circulating more slowly and the outbreak can be extinguished. The number is an estimate, the RIVM assumes that the number is between 0.89 and 0.93, and therefore in any case below 1. It also concerns the number of 23 October. After that it cannot be calculated reliably.
