In the Pacific, 5 minutes of dancing a day to challenge the closure of cultural venues

Dance to resist! This is the idea of the Pacifique, the National Choreographic Development Center located in Grenoble. Artists, passers-by or even residents are invited to come and dance for 5 minutes from Monday to Friday at 12:30 p.m.

During the confinements, people sang! Now they dance. They dance to protest against the closure of cultural venues. It is an initiative launched by The pacific. The National Choreographic Development Center located in Grenoble. The center was inspired by the artist Nadia Vadori-Gauthier. The dancer posts a 1 minute video on her website every day since january 2015.

Mobilize the cultural centers of the metropolis

From Monday to Friday, at 12:30 p.m., everyone can come and dance for 5 minutes. “Symbolically, if we manage to mobilize other places in the Grenoble metropolis on this action, it means connecting us, making an act of resistance and saying that we are alive”. No imposed choreography and a benevolent atmosphere. This is also the promise of these 5 minutes. Participants must however be masked.

The initiative started on February 15 and will not stop until the cultural places have reopened: “In the rain, in the sun, two or one hundred, we will continue to dance”, says Marie Roche.
