NEW YORK – A last-minute rescue filmed and posted on social media goes around the world. This Wednesday, August 4, a man in his thirties was rescued a few seconds before the arrival of a metro when he had just fallen his wheelchair on the rails.
As you can see in our video at the top of the article, the incident took place at the New York Union Square subway station in the middle of the day. In the images, we can see a user jumping on the rails to rescue a disabled man who fell with his wheelchair.
The video was posted on the Twitter account of Subway Creatures and taken by CBS reporter Lauren Mennen. “This man took action. He did not think twice before jumping on the rails ”details the reporter,“ he’s a hero ”.
With the help of other metro users, the anonymous rescuer was able to bring the man up to the platform. A rescue in extremis since the metro arrived 10 seconds later. Police say the victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital with a minor arm injury. However, his savior has not been identified.
